The Tarka Trail runs over 30 miles from Braunton to Meeth following the path of the old railway line. Cycling is fairly gentle and bikes can be hired from Braunton, Barnstaple and elsewhere if you don’t have your own. The Salt House has plenty of storage for bikes if you do want to bring your own with a cycle rack for six bikes inside.
The rugged coastline of North Devon also offers lots of opportunities for mountain biking and more challenging cycling.
Keypitts Farm which is just over 3 miles from The Salt House offers Quad Biking and Land Rover driving experiences.
There are several local stables within a couple of miles including Mullacott Equestrian Centre
Ilfracombe Golf Club is just over 2 mile from The Salt House and is open to non members. Situated on top of the rugged cliffs of the North Devon coast, every tee has an awe-inspiring view over the sea
Ilfracombe is part of the South West Coast path with breathtaking walks from Ilfracombe to Woolacombe and Croyde and beyond.
Ilfracombe has its own skatepark at Larkstone Recreation Park, Off Larkstone Lane, Ilfracombe, Devon, EX34 9QG about a five minute walk from The Salt House.
